What is e-Shram Card?
The e-Shram Card is a digital identity card for unorganized sector workers in India. It was launched by the Ministry of Labour & Employment on August 26, 2021, to create the first-ever national database of unorganized workers.
Each registered worker receives a Universal Account Number (UAN) – a 12-digit unique number that is valid throughout India and serves as proof of registration on the e-Shram portal.
The e-Shram card enables workers to access various social security schemes, including pension benefits, accident insurance, and other welfare programs offered by both central and state governments.
